Josh Howard has just published an article describing the process he goes through in producing a typical comic. I found it really useful to read through a breakdown of the different stages in the process. I think when you see this kind of information in context (i.e. describing the steps in producing a comic that I really liked) then you know it’s a good model to follow in learning yourself.
I freely admit this whole area is quite new to me and not something I know a great deal about yet. I was walking around Gosh Comics in London feeling like a fraud not really knowing where to start. I guess a lot of people have been living and breathing this kind of thing all of their lives, but I think it’s better to pursue something you come across and love even if you feel like a fraud for a little while.
Anyway, from looking around the whole store at a load of different work I ended up picking up two comics – I noticed shortly after that they were both written and drawn by Josh. In particular this cover from the new Dead @ 17 ongoing series really caught my attention.
I really enjoyed reading it – if you’re at all interested then I suggest you pick up a copy. I’m looking forward to the next installment.
